What the guest sees

This page describes what the guest sees, in the booking widget, when a reservation asks for a card guarantee.

At the end of the booking, a Secure your reservation step asks the guest to save their card. The page recalls the maximum guarantee amount (for example “Guarantee: up to €20”), the free-cancellation deadline, and an unambiguous line: Your card is saved securely — you are not charged now. The guest ticks the consent, then confirms with Guarantee my reservation. A reminder notes that payments are processed by Stripe.

While the guest enters their card, their table is held for a few minutes. If that time passes, a Time expired screen invites them to choose a time again — the table may still be available.

When the guarantee is requested manually, the guest gets an email with a link to a self-service page. There they see a banner recalling that a guarantee is still expected, then Provide card guarantee to save their card. They can also decline, with I don’t want to add a guarantee — cancel this reservation.

Once the card is saved, the reservation confirmation shows that a card guarantee is in place: a hold of up to the amount the guest agreed to may be charged in the event of a no-show or a cancellation after the free-cancellation deadline. No amount is charged now.

Once the guarantee is in place, the guest manages their reservation from the self-service page. After the free-cancellation deadline, they can no longer change it online: the modify button is disabled and points them to the venue. Cancelling stays possible, with the policy reminder. If a change raises the guarantee amount, the guest must accept the new amount first.

If the venue’s card payments are not active, no card is asked for: the reservation is taken without a guarantee, confirmed, or awaiting approval if the service uses manual approval.
